Welcome to the world of Warhammer 40,000!
Warhammer 40,000 (or 40K for short) is a Sci-Fi tabletop wargame with a distinctly Gothic edge. In Dragonslayers the number of 40K players has really boomed over the past year and is now one of the primary games played at the society. There are over twenty 40k players that attend Dragonslayers on a regular basis both on our weekly meetings every Tuesday night and at Saturday Slayers at the weekend. If your looking to get started with 40K or are an existing player your sure to find some enthusiastic Commanders, Hive Tyrants, Warbosses and Generals looking for fresh opponents to wage war against.
We have several ongoing 40K comppetitions and events including the hugely popular "Enter the Dragonslayer: Warhammer 40k League" that started at the beginning of the academic year.
Nearly all our members have entered the league so we have a wide range of skill levels from beginners to hardened veterans. In spite of the competitive nature of the league our members are more than happy to play friendly games and the emphasis is on the fun aspect of wargaming rather than winning at any cost.
Other wargaming activities include our Miniature Painting Competitions the first of which was held in October of 2009. The event generated lots of interest both from within and outside of the society in all there were over 20 entrants not only from our 40K players but from others within the society. In light of the success of the painting competition and its level of attendance we plan to hold another painting competition later in the academic year.
So if you enjoy assembling and painting models and nobody at home is prepared to appreciate your hard efforts, if you enjoy waging war among the armies of the far future, and if you enjoy rolling lots of dice then make your way to QUB Dragonslayers where in the grim darkness of Tuesday night, there is Warhammer!
